WIS Television Selects Original Musical Composition by Jay Wingard
18th Street Design (www.18street.com) announced today that WIS Television (an NBC affiliate station in Columbia, SC) has selected the original musical composition entitled "October Skies" for their premier television show "Carolina Magazine".
"We are excited that WIS has selected this piece to represent the new show. It's great to hear our music in local venues.", says Jay Wingard, Creative Director of 18th Street Design. The piece will be used for commercials and as a sound bed for the show itself which has piloted on Wednesdays at 12:30pm on WIS stations. "October Skies" has been a popular piece from the recently released "October Skies" album. You can listen to the entire piece by visiting Jay Wingard's web site at http://www.jaywingard.com.
"We feel we our potential audience will have a fair share of women, children, potentially people at lunch and seniors as home. We wanted music to best fit that spectrum. I feel the music really complements what we wanted the show to be. The music is subtle yet has a bit of aggression…a call to action as it progresses. The gentle flow of the melody seems to lead the listener…as if it could provide hope. It helps to lift the listener/viewer and serves as a pacing device for the show." says Tony Kenion, Executive Producer of Carolina Magazine.
"In the process of selecting music we listened to several cuts. I did not matter how much I listened to any other cut of music, I went home with this cut in my mind. If this music could capture my mind, I am hoping it will capture the minds of others. That will keep people thinking of Carolina Magazine.", further added Kenion.

About WIS Television
On November 7, 1953, the first live broadcast on WIS was a University of South Carolina football game. In the decades that followed, the station has been committed to aggressive coverage of local news and special events. The call letters WIS stand for “Wonderful Iodine State”. They were adopted because of the great abundance of iodine in the South Carolina soil, which, before the use of iodized salt, led to a low incidence of goiters in the state's population. For many years WIS Television shared call letters, and a building, with WIS Radio. The radio station has since been sold.
